Frequently Asked Questions – Lily TCM

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Preparing for your treatment

Short answers to common questions about acupuncture, appointments and insurance.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people feel only a slight sensation. Brief pressure, warmth, tingling or pulling may occur. Please tell me whenever something feels uncomfortable.

Is acupuncture safe?

When performed professionally with sterile single-use needles, acupuncture is generally considered low-risk. Small bruises, slight bleeding or temporary tiredness may occur.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your condition, its duration, general health and individual response. We review progress together after the first sessions.

How often are appointments?

One appointment per week may be useful at first. Frequency is decided individually and adjusted over time.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

A referral is normally not required for a clinic appointment, although your insurer may have its own conditions.

How long is a session?

The first consultation takes about 90 minutes. Follow-up treatments usually take 60 minutes.

May I eat before treatment?

Please do not arrive on an empty stomach. A light meal beforehand is helpful; avoid a very heavy meal immediately before treatment.

What should I bring?

Bring your medication list and relevant reports. Please do not send medical reports through WhatsApp.
